POPE FRANCIS ON MERCY

The Holy Father continued his Jubilee practice of the “Fridays of Mercy” this month. This afternoon, Pope Francis went to to the Roman “SOS Village” in the area of Boccea, a family-style house that takes in children, sent by the Social Services and courts, who are in problematic personal, family or social situations.

'How lovely is this description of God! Everything is here, because God is great and powerful, but His greatness and power are displayed in loving us, we who are so little, so incapable.'

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- Trusting in God's infinite mercy, people should not be afraid or embarrassed to go to confession, Pope Francis said.

"There are people who are afraid to go to confession, forgetting that they will not encounter a severe judge there, but the immensely merciful Father," Pope Francis told thousands of people gathered in St. Peter's Square Aug. 2 for the midday recitation of the Angelus prayer
